It's Electric. It must be expensive to operate.
NO! The Electric Fireplace operates for pennies a day. The flame uses slightly
under 300 Watts of power. With an average electricity rate, the unit operates
for a remarkable 2 cents/hour* providing all the benefits of the exclusive ElectraFlame
ambience.
When you choose to activate the heat feature, the total
cost to operate the flame and heater is approximately 7 cents/hour.* Gas fireplace
manufacturers regularly advertise running costs of 17 cents/hour.
*Electricity rates vary from place to
place. If you know the electric rate charged by your utility, we would be pleased
to calculate your hourly cost.
How efficient are Electric Fireplaces?
Electric Fireplaces are 100% efficient. This means that all of the energy supplied
to the unit is converted into heat, which stays in the room.*
*
Many gas fireplaces advertise 70-80%
efficiency but are truly only 50%-60%. This means that 40-50% of the energy
supplied to the units is vented outside.
Does the Fireplace make a lot of noise?
NO! The Fireplace has an ultra quiet fan which gently circulates warm air at
very low sound levels.*
*
The blower units on many gas units
are very powerful (and noisy) in order to disperse higher heat production.
Is it easy to install?
Yes! Just take it home and plug it in. The Fireplace plugs into any standard
120 volt outlet and does not require a dedicated circuit. In addition, the Fireplace
does not require any venting, pipelines to supply fuel, expensive professional
reconstruction to your home or troublesome inspections.
Whether the Fireplace is being installed
into one of the many attractive "no-tools-required" mantels or into an existing
fireplace opening, installation is fast and easy!

The flame looks so realistic. How does it work?
Dimplex has developed a patented technology called ElectraFlame
which projects random refracted light to create the realistic flame.
Can the flame be adjusted?
Yes! The Fireplace controls allow you to adjust the flame ambience to suit
any mood.*
*
Many other fireplaces have very limited
or no flame adjustments at all.
Will the flame operate without the heat?
Yes! The flame and heater operate independently of each other. This means you
can enjoy the flame ambience all the time, in any season.*
*
In many gas unites, the flame cycles
off as the room temperature rises and you lose the flame effect until the room
cools down again. In smaller rooms, gas fireplaces can be off a lot of the time
and in warmer climates they many not come on at all unless the thermostat is
set higher than the room temperature.
Can the Fireplace be relocated?
Yes! Unlike fireplaces installed with venting and fuel
pipelines, the Fireplace can be readily moved from room to room. If you are
planning to move to a new home, you can take your investement with you.
How does the type of heat compare?
Fireplaces distribute a warm, gentle, even heat over a wide area by means of
a silent fan-forced heater. When the heating element is off, the fan continues
to operate, circulating the air around the room.
*
Most gas fireplaces transmit heat by
radiation from the heated glass panel which provides high close range heat,
and by convection when the fan cycles on and off, as controlled by the thermostat.
Is it easy to maintain?
Yes! Every 2 to 3 years the light bulbs, readily available at any hardware
store, will need to be replaced. This can be easily performed by the homeowner.*

What about safety?
The Fireplace has full electrical certification throughout North America for
complete peace of mind.
To ensure the safety of your family members, no combustible
energy sources are used to produce the flame. This means that you never need
to worry about oxygen depletion or carbon monoxide poisoning in your home and
the glass remains cool to the touch to ensure children do not burn their hands
on the glass.
Other features include:
-
Impact resistant safety glass
-
Safety cut out with reset controls
Will the Fireplace fit into my existing fireplace opening?
The Fireplace is designed to fit just about all fireplace openings with ease. The Trims cover openings up to 35 1/2" width and 28
1/2" height.
Will the Dimplex Mantels fit into any room?
Dimplex Mantels are available in many attractive styles
to compliment your home's personality. The space saving cabinet style mantels
are only 12"/30.5cm deep and the corner style units tuck into any room.
Where can I put the Fireplace?
Just about any indoor area as long as it is clean and
dry.
